Space Shuttle

The space shuttle Discovery flew over our school this morning on it's way to it's final resting place at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum nearby.
We watched the live feed all morning.  When it was time, we went out on the lawn and waited for it to pass over.  It made 3 laps around D.C. but it was that final lap where we got a great glimpse of it.

The kids(and adults) were cheering and shouting.  It was pretty cool.

After heading in, we watched the final descent and landing.  The children had so many great questions and discussions while watching this.  You can't ask for better teachable moments than these!
