Doodle a Story

Doodle a Story is something I use in the classroom to help children learn about identifying important details in a story.

As I read a story, I stop at certain points and have the children "doodle" what is happening at that moment.  By the end of the story, they have a retelling right in front of them.  I then have them break into partner groups to retell the story using their own pictures.
