Hello and welcome to my new blog!
I have been blogging for years but have recently realized I need a new outlet for my blogging addiction. I thought, why not start one about the trials and tribulations of teaching!
Like I have all the spare time in the world to do this. But hey, if you know me, you know I am a glutton for punishment and am always working on a million "projects" at once.
A little about my teaching background:
I have been teaching for 11 years. I taught preschool for a year in Upstate New York and then moved to Virginia where I have taught 2nd grade since. In 2005, I received my masters in reading education from The University of Virginia. Although I have my masters in reading, I decided to continue being a classroom teacher and apply that knowledge to my own students each year.
Teaching is truly a rewarding experience and I can honestly say that I love my job. The only part that may not be the greatest aspect is the pay, but that is a story for another day.
Another interesting tidbit about myself is that my husband is also a teacher. He teaches 6th grade at the same school as me. We have worked in the same school for 4 years now. It has been a lot of fun and since we teach different ends of the primary spectrum, we still have different stories to share at the end of the day.
Well that is my life as a teacher in a nutshell. I will be using this blog as a way to share ideas, lessons, and activities I create for my own classroom. I will also share great ideas I find thoughout my endless internet searches.
I hope you enjoy!
